Meet the Innkeepers

Every successful bed & breakfast requires a talented group of innkeepers. Chateau Bourbon is no exception. Our “Fab 5” is the perfect collection of warmhearted, hard-working folks. They put the ‘fun’ in ‘function’ to give you more than just a stay…it’s an experience!

Missy Hillock “The Boss Lady”

Missy is the brainchild behind Chateau Bourbon and has worked hard to make her dream come to life. She has always had a passion for travel and during her adventures became convinced that she would end up hosting travelers in her own lodging business someday. Missy is a smart, silly, charismatic woman who has a personality very much suited for an innkeeper. As a doctoral-level psychologist, she naturally understands and connects with people. Though she runs a tight ship, she puts her heart and soul into her role as owner and primary innkeeper. We pretty much call her the "hostess with the mostest"!

John Hillock

John Hillock “The House Hero”

John is the only guy in our "Fab 5" but we couldn't ask for a better one! Funny, light-hearted, and a killer smile...John is the epitome of a welcoming host. John keeps Chateau Bourbon functional and looking beautiful by operating as our resident handyman. His muscles come in handy for carrying luggage for guests, too! As a career fireman, he’s logged plenty of hours in the kitchen over the years. Having spent 5 years in the Air Force, John is also an expert bed maker.

Carol Thomas “The Queen of Confections”

Carol is the marvelous matriarch of our "Fab 5". She is excited to make Norton Commons her permanent home while serving as our resident innkeeper. Carol works in healthcare finance and in her free time enjoys knitting and crocheting. You’d be amazed what she can make with a ball of yarn and a few hours to spare. She’s not too shabby in the kitchen either. This woman can put bourbon in anything and make it delicious. We apologize in advance for any weight gain you may experience from all the goodies she’ll make during your stay!

Reese

Reese

Reese is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu / Yorkie mix (a "Shorkie" if you're fancy), John & Missy’s only child. She is truly one-of-a-kind and has the most wonderful personality. Even people who don't like dogs like Reese. She's social, playful, loving, and as smart as a whip (she gets that from her momma!). Reese enjoys showing off her talents such as high-fives, especially when treats are in sight. Reese loves socializing with guests and stealing everyone's hearts.

Reese's major claim to fame is that she is an actress! For the last three years in a row she has even earned a paycheck. Reese has played "Toto" in the Wizard of Oz in two local theater productions. She steals the show every time! Her favorite scene is when she gets to devour the hotdog off of Professor Marvel's campfire stick (YUM). She also recently played a role in the musical "Pippin."

Reese is a true Norton Commons resident and takes great pleasure in walks around the neighborhood, sitting in the window to watch passers-by, and swinging on the front porch while socializing with neighbors.

Honey

The smallest and definitely the quirkiest of our "Fab 5", Honey is Carol's beloved canine companion. Like Reese, Honey is a "Shorkie", but is a bit younger at 6 years old. Honey is quite the ham and is always doing something to make us all laugh. We call her the "truffle hog" because she grunts and snorts like a little pig when she's walking or sniffing. Honey lives at Chateau Bourbon and absolutely loves Norton Commons.

Honey has been a country dog her whole life, so she has learned to walk on a leash and socialize with other dogs while living here in the city. She has taken to it like a fish to water! She looks forward to her daily walks and also enjoys hanging out on the front porch and watching people walk by. Her favorite thing to do is run in Oval Park, stopping only to eat a few blades of grass and roll around briefly before bouncing off again.

Honey is a smart, friendly, fun little girl who brings companionship and comic relief to the guests at Chateau Bourbon.
