Halloween on Hillcrest is open all month – it started in the 1980’s as a friendly decorating competition between neighbors and has become a local legend.
Ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and other creatures of the night will converge on Baxter Avenue on October 21 for Louisville’s Halloween Parade and Festival. Louisville’s Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular is this month. Over 5,000 illuminated pumpkins line a walking trail in Iroquois Park. The Horses and Haunts Tour is every Wednesday evening at 7pm at Churchill Downs. The Spirits of Sawyer is a live paranormal investigation of historical sites within E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. The event is October 13 and participants are encouraged to bring their cameras, recorders, and EMF meters. In Bardstown, the Shadows of Federal Hill Ghost Tours of My Old Kentucky Home begins October 13 and runs through October 29.
For bourbon lovers and foodies, October activities include a filming of the Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs on October 14, After Hours at the Speed on October 20 (music, drinks, and art), and Oktoberfest Cruises on the Belle of Louisville each weekend this month.
