Visiting Bourbon Country

Planning a trip to Kentucky to explore the Bourbon Trail? Here are two articles that highlight SO MANY of our favorite spots here in Louisville and the surrounding area. And with more people choosing domestic travel these days, there's no better time to come immerse yourself in the Bluegrass!
Foder's has written "The Perfect Weekend Getaway: Louisville and Bourbon Country". While it frames the article around travel from Atlanta or Chicago, of course the recommendations for the adventure remain the same. I really love their Louisville distillery recommendations, such as Kentucky Peerless and Old Forester. They give a great rundown on some of our favorite locally-owned dining and shopping spots, such as Royal's Hot Chicken and Revelry Boutique. There's even a mention of one of our personal faves - one of the most haunted destinations in the country, Waverly Hills Sanatorium!
In addition, check out this blog on Bonvoyageurs, "A Week in Bourbon Country," that gives wonderful tips for a week in the Bluegrass! Spend a day at Churchill Downs, the nation's most well-known thoroughbred racing track. Whether it's for a live racing or to learn all about the fastest two minutes in sports by visiting the Kentucky Derby Museum - or BOTH - this Kentucky icon is a must! The blog provides great bourbon distillery recommendations, as well as off-the-beaten-path dining and attraction recommendations. Two of our favorite large distilleries on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Woodford Reserve and Maker's Mark, are highly recommended and are within an hour of our property. There's also a sweet insider tip for an awesome little music venue in downtown Louisville, Jimmy Can't Dance.
We'd love to host you during your Kentucky adventure!
